Meet Mehatva Mansukhani, a student of class XII at Apeejay Pitampura who aspires to be a Computer Engineer after finishing school. He believes in following his timetable rigidly and sincerely. Unlike his other counterparts, Mehatva is not a fan of social media. Calling it the biggest distraction, he asserts that social media creates a negative impact on the young generation.
A seasoned sportsperson, he is trained in chess and lawn tennis and wants to continue these sports in the later years of his life too. He is of the opinion that people should learn to be content and empathetic in life and have gratitude.
In a candid interview, the recipient of the Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values talks about his core values.

What was your feeling when you received this award?
I was really apprehensive about receiving this prestigious award at the start. I knew that all the nominated students were really deserving. But I feel I make the cut due to my nature and following the rules at school with sincerity and discipline.
What are the core values you believe in?
Honesty and service to people are the two most important values I believe in and follow dedicatedly. Since my family donates food at the blind school every month, I have learnt the value of service from them. Second, I feel honesty is a virtue that will help you in the worst of situations.
How has Dr Stya Paul inspired you?
He is the epitome of the ‘never give up in life’ attitude. Since I am in sports and have also taken the Science stream, I know how difficult it gets to manage both. Success is impossible to achieve without hard work.
Define being human.
The core purpose of any human is to be empathetic towards others. We should aim to provide service to anyone who is needy or helpless. Every person should instil the act of sharing the pain of others, similar to how happiness is also shared.
How well do you resonate with the motto – Soaring High is My Nature?
The personality that I have built, in school over these 14 years, have actually prepared me to soar high in my life ahead. The teachers have helped me in building my personality and honed my overall development.
Who do you dedicate this award to?
I dedicate this award to my inspiration, MS Dhoni. Since we have all seen his biopic, we are aware of his hard work for academics and cricket. He is the best idol who taught me how to balance sports and studies in life.
What is your driving force after receiving this award?
This award is definitely a boost to my personality. I think the tradition that my family is following to serve food to the needy is what I have decided to participate in and continue in future.
What is your philosophy about life?
Since I am closely associated with sports, I believe in the ethics of sportsmanship spirit. I have associated feelings like constructive aggression, conviction, and consistency with the sports I play. And now made them a major part of my behaviour too.
