The Art of Man-making: ‘Apeejay has played a major role in shaping my values of integrity, empathy, and responsibility’

My name is Liannaka Dadi, and I am a resident of Dwarka, New Delhi. I completed my secondary education at B.G.S. International Public School, Dwarka, and am currently pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science from Apeejay Stya University. During my academic journey, I had the opportunity to work as a freelancer for a client, where I helped build an e-commerce website from scratch, primarily focusing on the backend development part of the project. Apart from academics, I enjoy creating mandala art, which helps me express creativity and patience. Over time, I have developed key qualities such as leadership, conflict resolution, accountability, and time management. I chose Apeejay Stya University because I was confident that it would help me grow holistically not only academically but also personally by nurturing my skills and encouraging innovative thinking.

How did you feel when you learnt you’d received the award?

When I learned that I had received the award, I felt astonished and overwhelmed. It was truly an indescribable feeling, a mix of happiness, pride, and gratitude. It made me realise that all the effort and dedication I had put into my work were being recognized and appreciated.

What values or skills have you developed through this journey?

Through this journey, I have developed a strong sense of discipline, perseverance, and adaptability. I’ve learned how important it is to stay consistent even when things get challenging. I also gained valuable communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Most importantly, I learned that growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone.

What makes Apeejay Stya University special is its personalised approach to learning and the strong student-faculty interaction it offers. The environment encourages curiosity, creativity, and innovation. I make the most of my time here by actively participating in workshops, projects, and collaborative activities that challenge me to think critically and apply my knowledge practically. I also make it a point to interact with peers and faculty members to learn from their experiences and perspectives.

According to me, the most important human value everyone should possess is empathy. It allows us to understand others’ perspectives, connect with people on a deeper level, and create a more compassionate and supportive society. Empathy drives kindness, respect, and harmony values that the world deeply needs today.
