In a world where comparison is constant and appearances often take precedence over authenticity, there lies quiet strength in choosing to be real. We find strength in being honest with ourselves and others, in finding joy in someone else’s achievement, and in practicing kindness without expecting anything in return. This is what Aarish Saini of Class IX at Apeejay School, Model Town, believes in. In a candid interview, the proud recipient of the coveted Dr Stya Paul Award for Human Values shares how he plans to influence those around him in the most meaningful way.

How did you feel after receiving the prestigious award?
The presence of the Almighty is always around us, guiding and blessing us in ways we may not even realise. I offer my heartfelt gratitude for giving me the strength and grace to be worthy of this prestigious honour. I extend my sincere thanks to my school, my Principal, my Headmistress, all my teachers, my grandparents, and my parents, especially my mother for their unwavering support and encouragement.

What are the core human values you believe in that are relevant in today’s time?
Three values stand out the most: Humility, respect, and honesty. No matter how far we go in life, these values keep us grounded and connected to others. They guide how we treat people, how we speak, how we work, and how we grow.

How do you resonate with the motto – Soaring High is My Nature?
It is not about materialistic success but about striving for excellence in thought, knowledge, and character. Maintaining high standards of intellect, integrity, and modesty defines who we are. This motto inspires me to stay grounded while aiming higher in all aspects of life.

What is your philosophy for leading a positive life?
I try to focus more on looking within rather than pointing fingers. I believe we should ask ourselves, “What can I improve in me?” One quote that’s stayed with me is: “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.”

What is your driving force after receiving this award?
For me, success is not about changing who I am; it’s about staying true to myself. This award is a moment of pride, but my real motivation lies in continuing to grow while remaining humble and grounded.

What are the basic human values people lack today?
I feel like many people struggle to genuinely be happy for others. Jealousy creeps in, and it can make us bitter without even realising it. Another important value that’s often missing is honesty. If we choose to live by these values, we can influence others in a positive way — not by preaching, but simply by being real and kind.
