Here is an interview that highlights the transformative power of education and practical experience in carving out a successful career in advertising. Read edited excerpts:
Snigdha, could you please tell us your current role at ABM Communications?
I’m currently working as a management trainee and I’m in my probation period here. I juggle multiple client projects and coordinate with various teams. My primary focus is on advertising and production. I work closely with our clients, aligning their needs with the studio and creative team, overseeing the creation of artworks, and ensuring they are published effectively. It’s incredibly rewarding to collaborate with prominent clients and manage high-profile campaigns.
And which course did you pursue at AIMC?
I was a student of advertising and marketing. The course was comprehensive, covering various aspects of advertising. I learned about marketing fundamentals, advertising strategies, the creative process, and copywriting. Coming from an English Honours background, I initially thought my communication skills would be the primary focus. However, the course offered a wealth of practical knowledge, including how art studios operate, the creative process, production techniques, and even content writing and short film production.
Fascinating! How did your professors at AIMC contribute to your learning experience?
The professors were fantastic—both engaging and supportive. Given that advertising is a practical field, they made sure the learning process was hands-on and enjoyable. Their teaching style kept us actively involved, making the theoretical aspects just as stimulating as the practical ones. Their approachable and friendly demeanour created an environment where we felt both respected and comfortable.
What is one key skill you gained from AIMC that you find most valuable?
I would say the ability to harness my communication skills to produce impactful work is the most valuable skill I acquired. It has been instrumental in my role at ABM Communications.
Were you placed through campus recruitment?

Yes, I was successfully placed through the campus recruitment process. The training I received from my teachers was exceptional. The professors prepared me not just to act like a professional but to truly become one. They guided me on how to present myself confidently and effectively, which has helped me establish my personal brand.
Impressive! What are your future career aspirations?
I’ve just embarked on my career, and I’m thoroughly enjoying my current role. My goal is to continue growing in this field, exploring new opportunities, and reaching new heights in my advertising career.
