Recently, Apeejay School, Sector 15, Faridabad, observed Paper Bag Day with an exciting and educational activity for Pre-primary students. This hands-on event allowed young learners to explore the importance of sustainability and the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, while fostering creativity.

The day’s focus was to introduce students to the significance of environmental responsibility. Through engaging discussions and activities, they learnt that the 3Rs help reduce waste, protect resources, and promote a cleaner environment. Students understood how small actions like using paper bags instead of plastic can contribute to the planet’s well-being. The idea was simple: By making sustainable choices, they can make a big impact.

Hands-on experience

The highlight of ‘Paper Bag Day’ was when students made their newspaper bags. By using old newspapers instead of plastic, they got a tangible experience of recycling. The activity not only reinforced the concept of reusing materials but also gave the students a chance to be creative. As they decorated their paper bags, they learned that sustainability can be both fun and purposeful.

The event turned into more than just an art activity. As they crafted their bags, students gained a practical understanding of how they can incorporate sustainability into their everyday lives. The process taught them that reducing waste and reusing materials doesn’t have to be difficult; it can be a simple, enjoyable part of their routine.

Fostering future environmental stewards

The Paper Bag Day event provided a valuable learning opportunity for students to understand the importance of environmental responsibility. By combining creativity with education, the students not only made their bags but also embraced the idea of sustainability as a fun, achievable goal. This experience will help them grow into environmentally conscious individuals who are ready to make a difference.
