Apeejay School, Model Town recently conducted an engaging Word Traffic Signal Activity for students of Class III-B, focusing on the importance of choosing words carefully in everyday communication. The session was designed to help young learners understand how language impacts emotions, relationships and classroom harmony, while making the learning process joyful and relatable.

Traffic Signals Meet Value Education

Using the familiar concept of traffic lights, students were introduced to three categories of words. The green signal represented kind, safe and positive words that can always be used. The yellow signal encouraged children to pause and think before speaking, while the red signal highlighted hurtful or inappropriate words that should be avoided. This simple analogy helped students grasp an important life lesson with ease.

Guided Learning with the School Counsellor

The session was conducted by the school counsellor, who facilitated discussions and examples drawn from students’ daily experiences. Through interactive questioning and gentle guidance, children reflected on how their words affect others and learned the value of empathy, patience and self-control in communication.

Active Participation and Joyful Engagement

Students participated enthusiastically, eagerly selecting the green signal and sharing examples of positive words they could use at school and at home. The activity created a safe space for expression, encouraging confidence, awareness and mutual respect among classmates.

More than a language exercise, the activity strengthened social and emotional learning by promoting kindness, responsibility and thoughtful decision-making. By linking everyday behaviour with values, the session reinforced the school’s commitment to holistic education.

The Word Traffic Signal Activity proved to be a meaningful and enjoyable experience, helping students understand that words have the power to heal, motivate and inspire. Through such initiatives, Apeejay School, Model Town continues to nurture emotionally aware and responsible communicators from an early age.
