‘Teachers boost the understanding and analytical power of children’

Cdr Sravan Kumar Khuntia is an Aerospace Engineer and an ex-navy man, and his wife Sucharita Khuntia is a Doctor. They are proud parents of Siddharth Khuntia, a student of Apeejay School, Nerul. In this interview, Mr Khuntia shares how teachers let the children express their views and give them the freedom to frame answers. Read excerpts from the interview:

What made you think Apeejay School, Nerul, would be the right choice for your child?

When we shifted from the Navy, we were on the lookout for schools that would allow the children to grow holistically and help them in becoming well-rounded personality. Apeejay became the obvious choice as it curriculum and co-curricular activities are brilliant. It was already the start of the pandemic, but the teachers took great care to ensure my kids get comfortable in the school. Today, I think my decision was absolutely correct.

Do you personally interact with the faculty on a regular basis?

Absolutely! We speak to the teachers as well as attend the PTMs. They have always been very accessible and do connect on phone or in-person whenever necessary.

Tell us what you think about the way teachers conduct classes.

The teachers let the children express their views and give them the freedom to frame answers as per their thought process. I appreciate this quality as this boosts the understanding and analytical power of children and thus makes them future-ready.

Have you noticed any particular improvement in your child?

I could see my kid being more confident and outspoken. He also shows leadership qualities now. He has a deeper and more practical understanding of the school subjects.

How well does the school ensure children’s safety and security?

Safety and security of the kids are always maintained, even during their outbound trips. I find the school is extremely cautious about the safety of each kid.

How are the teachers helping students on a personal level?

The teachers ensure that the children are coping well in their academics. They speak to the children, motivate them as well as correct them if they are moving in a wrong direction.

 Are you working, if yes? Then how Apeejay is helping working parents?

Yes, my wife and I are both working. Apeejay has been a blessing for us. The teachers understand our nature of work and allow us to reschedule the PTM timings. They also communicate important information through phone, in case we have missed out on anything.
