Leaders are like gold, born only out of the test of fire. Imagine, what a great change the collective fire can bring, when numerous leaders come under one roof and discuss ideas for a better tomorrow. This is exactly what happened at the District Interact Leadership Assembly (DILA) 2022, recently held at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park.
Inaugurated by Director General, Rtn Ashok Kantoor, the event was graced by various distinguished Rotarians including illustrious names such as Mr. Sandeep Singh Kathuria, Principal, Apeejay School Panchsheel Park, and Mr NN Nayar, Education Advisor, Apeejay Education.
The programme commenced with the national anthem reverberating in the auditorium followed by a mesmerising welcome dance and the auspicious lighting of the lamp. The event was attended by a whopping number of 700 interactors along with their teacher in-charges across several prominent schools in Delhi-NCR.
The chief guest for the event was Swami Prem Parivartan, popularly known as Peepal Baba, an ardent environmentalist who along with his team has planted over 20 million trees in 202 districts across 18 states in India. He spoke at length on the importance of conservation of trees and also highlighted the importance of building effective leaders from the youth who can take active steps towards preserving planet Earth.
It was followed by an enriching panel discussion. The star-studded panel comprised DG Rtn. Ashok Kantoor, eminent educationist Dr. D.K. Pandey, actor Sayali Bhagat and Hiya Jain, a member of the advisory council.

The topic of discussion was: ‘Imagine a better tomorrow’, which touched upon pertinent issues like water conservation, gender equality, inclusiveness and ban on single-use plastic. The event also incorporated different activities like poster making competition and Nukkad Natak to spread awareness among students about various environmental hazards. The Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park bagged the second position in the poster-making competition.
Moumita Mallik Sen, Teacher incharge expressed her joy saying, “DILA is a platform where the seeds of thought are sown in the impressionable minds of the Interactors to germinate and blossom for a better and brighter tomorrow. The interactors get to deliberate on some pertinent issues like tree and water conservation, gender equality and inclusiveness and ban on single-use plastic.” She further added, “This year, the Interact Club of Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park bagged the second position in Poster Making competition in which they displayed and explained the wide range of activities that they conducted in the past months.”

Prateek Rout, President, Interact Club, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park said, “DILA 2022 was an event where I was able to discuss with other fellow interactors about the problems generally faced, while organising their projects and at the same time I also made some new friends! I even got ideas for the upcoming projects from the posters displayed by the various school clubs. The event was very fruitful.”
