Despite his age, Reyansh Phogat of Class II at Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, demonstrates remarkable strength, focus, and determination, inspiring many around him. He had clinched a Gold medal at the Star Taekwondo Championship, showcasing his disciplined training, dedication, and exceptional skill. Reyansh’s journey reflects passion, perseverance, and the spirit of a true athlete. In a candid interview, he shares his recent achievements in Taekwondo, including winning a Bronze medal at the 6th National Jidok-Wan Taekwondo Championship, where he competed with confidence and resilience at the national level.
Share your recent achievement.
My recent achievement in Taekwondo is winning a Silver medal at the 6th Jidokwan Taekwondo Championship. I felt extremely proud to participate in the competition and represent my school. This achievement motivated me to work harder and continue improving my skills in Taekwondo.
How did you become interested in this sport?
I developed an interest after watching my classmate practice and sharing her experiences with the sport. Her enthusiasm inspired me to give it a try. As I started learning the kicks and techniques, I found it thrilling, and over time, it grew into a true passion of mine.
How has the school supported your journey thus far?
The school has supported my Taekwondo journey by providing proper training, practice facilities, and constant encouragement from teachers and coaches. The school also motivates students to take part in competitions, helping us gain experience and continuously improve our skills. Their support has been invaluable in my growth as a sportsperson.
How has taekwondo changed you as a person?
It has made me more confident, disciplined, and focused. It has taught me the value of hard work, respect, and perseverance, showing me to never give up even when faced with challenges. This sport has shaped not just my skills, but also my character and mindset.
What is the most challenging part of this sport?
The most challenging part is maintaining balance, speed, and stamina during matches. I overcame these through regular practice, enhancing my fitness, and following my coach’s guidance closely. Consistent effort and dedication have helped me perform better and stay focused during competitions.
What is your training regimen like?
It includes daily practice of kicks, stretching, fitness exercises, and sparring sessions. I also dedicate time to enhancing my strength, flexibility, and reaction time, ensuring I improve all aspects of my Taekwondo skills consistently.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
My biggest inspiration is my coach’s son. I admire his dedication and hard work in Taekwondo. He constantly motivates me to practice harder and refine my techniques. Watching his performance and commitment inspires me to push myself and become a better Taekwondo player daily.
