SWAYAM courses for Indian Knowledge System start; registration open: UGC chairman

Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), recently made an announcement regarding the commencement of the application process for the Study Webs of Active–Learning for Young Aspiring Minds (SWAYAM) courses focused on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS).
These courses are available in three streams: engineering, science and technology, and humanities and social sciences. Interested students can register for these on the official website, swayam.gov.in.
Chairman Kumar shared this update on Twitter, highlighting the launch of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on Indian Knowledge System: Concepts and Application. He expressed his delight in introducing these MOOCs following the publication of the book on IKS. The SWAYAM courses are scheduled to commence on July 31.
Further, the Humanities and Social Sciences course aims to provide students with a comprehensive introduction to the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and create awareness about the significant contributions made by ancient Indians in various fields such as science, philosophy, and related applications and concepts.
The science course syllabus is divided into 10 weeks and covers topics such as number systems and units of measurement, mathematics, astronomy, knowledge framework and classifications, linguistics, health wellness and psychology, as well as town planning and architecture.
The SWAYAM courses encompass four quadrants, including video lectures, downloadable reading material, self-assessment tests, and online discussion forums to facilitate doubt clarification.
