Survey: 62% of Indian educators embrace Gen AI for enhanced teaching and learning

A recent study conducted by TeamLease Edtech indicates that approximately 62 per cent of educators in India are actively utilising Generative AI (GenAI) tools to improve the delivery and engagement of educational content. Titled ‘Revolutionising Classrooms: Impact of Generative AI on the Future of Education,’ the report draws insights from 6,313 educators, including those from primary schools, high schools, colleges, and educational professionals nationwide.
Key findings from the study include:
O Nearly 65 per cent of educators acknowledge the potential benefits of GenAI in transforming learning experiences, providing personalised education, and fostering interactive engagement.
O Approximately 62 per cent of educators are already incorporating AI tools in teaching, preparation, and student engagement.
O A significant 64 per cent believe that AI plays a crucial role in preparing students for a future dominated by AI.
O 55 per cent express the need for teacher training to ensure educators are ready for the integration of AI in education.
O A substantial 88 per cent of respondents are in favour of AI regulation to mitigate potential negative implications.
O About 45 per cent of educators indicated that their educational institutions have established guidelines for the use of GenAI tools in teaching.
