Apeejay School, Charkhi Dadri, celebrated the auspicious festival of Diwali with a vibrant assembly organised by Class X, followed by a joyful event in the pre-primary section. The aim of both celebrations was to honor the spirit of Diwali through cultural and spiritual performances that fostered joy, positivity, and a sense of togetherness, while introducing students to the festival’s deeper meaning.
The main assembly, led by Class X, commenced with a soulful recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa, which filled the school with a serene and reverent atmosphere. This was followed by devotional bhajans sung by Class X students in tribute to Lord Rama, enhancing the spiritual energy of the assembly. The students’ harmonious voices captivated everyone in attendance, setting a peaceful and uplifting tone for the day.

Mrs. Abha Gupta, PGT Biology, commented on the significance of the performances, stating, “Each performance was meticulously planned, and the talent displayed by the students was commendable. I felt that their hard work and dedication reflected in every act.”
In a vibrant display of talent, Class X students performed traditional dances that reflected the cultural essence of Diwali. Their graceful movements and expressive gestures brought the festival’s stories and traditions to life, leaving the audience mesmerised. The students also recited poems about the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil, which highlighted the festival’s message of unity, love, and peace.
A significant part of the event was a student-delivered speech on the historical and cultural relevance of Diwali, especially in today’s modern world. This speech encouraged the audience to reflect on the festival’s values and their personal significance. Mrs. Gupta added, “The message about happiness was particularly inspiring,” underscoring the positive impact of the event on the community.

In the pre-primary section, the next day’s celebration focused on introducing young students to the cultural significance of Diwali. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by the Principal, Dr. Vineet Vasishtha, symbolising the start of the festivities and spreading positivity among the students, teachers, and parents. Young students dressed as characters from the Ramayana, delighting the audience with vibrant costumes and lively enactments that captured the essence of Diwali.
Principal Dr. Vasishtha remarked, “The students’ enthusiasm and devotion during the Diwali celebrations were truly heartwarming. Their portrayal of Ramayana characters was admirable, bringing life to our traditions. This event beautifully highlighted the values of goodness, unity, and cultural pride that we aim to nurture in our students.”
Mr. Kuldeep Singh, PGT English, shared his thoughts on the main assembly, saying, “It was indeed a wonderful experience witnessing the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.” He further praised their efforts, noting, “The way they portrayed the essence of Diwali through various performances was truly impressive.”

The Class X celebration concluded with a comedy play, which combined entertainment with a meaningful message about finding happiness within. Through humor and lively interactions, the play conveyed the importance of inner contentment and cherishing life’s simple joys. Mr. Singh highlighted this unique aspect, stating, “The comedy play, with its message on happiness, added a unique touch to the celebration. Well done, Class X!”
These Diwali celebrations were memorable experiences for the entire school community, from the youngest students learning about cultural heritage to the older ones performing with dedication, leaving everyone inspired and filled with festive spirit.
