To promote an environmentally responsible mindset among young learners, PAHAL organised a highly informative awareness session on E-Waste Management at the auditorium of Apeejay School, Rama Mandi. The session was facilitated by Mr Bipin Suman, an expert from PAHAL, who enlightened students on the increasing concerns associated with discarded electronic gadgets and the urgent need to manage them efficiently.
The programme began with an introduction to the concept of e-waste. Mr Suman explained how rapidly advancing technology has led to a surge in electronic consumption, which consequently generates massive volumes of waste. From mobile phones, laptops, and chargers to household appliances and batteries, every outdated or broken device adds to the growing pile of e-waste around us.

He highlighted the environmental hazards associated with improper disposal. Toxic substances such as lead, mercury, chromium, and cadmium seep into soil and water bodies, contaminating ecosystems and posing serious health risks to humans and wildlife. Students were made aware of the invisible but severe consequences of careless dumping and informal recycling methods often seen in urban neighbourhoods.
A key segment of the event focused on safe disposal practices. The resource person advised students to responsibly segregate electronic waste and submit it only to authorised e-waste collection centres and certified recyclers. He shared how PAHAL is actively working alongside environmental organisations to ensure that harmful materials are processed safely and valuable components are recovered for reuse.
He also shed light on PAHAL’s community engagement initiatives, including awareness drives, household collection campaigns, and partnerships with government-approved disposal agencies. These efforts aim to build a culture of sustainability and significantly reduce the environmental footprint of electronic waste.

Encouraging students to take individual responsibility, Mr Suman suggested simple yet impactful measures, like repairing gadgets instead of replacing them frequently, donating electronics that are still functional, and choosing sustainable products with long lifecycles. He emphasised that each responsible decision contributes to preserving the planet.
Towards the end, appreciation certificates were presented to students who actively participated in the programme, ensuring their enthusiasm and commitment were recognised.
