As part of the ongoing Chetna Project, students of Classes IX–XII from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar, undertook an enriching educational visit to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office on 14 November 2025. The visit was organised under the guidance of teachers Mr Sanjeev Gandhi and Ms Vasu Kumar, with strong encouragement and support from the school’s Principal, Mr Yashpal Sharma.
Welcomed by Shri Rohit Jindal, Assistant Commissioner, the students were provided a rare insight into the workings of district administration, public service delivery mechanisms, and the various layers of governance that keep a district functioning smoothly. Shri Jindal explained the administrative hierarchy, decision-making processes, and citizen-centric services, helping students understand how policies translate into action at the ground level.

A key highlight of the visit was an interactive discussion on the Business Blaster Project, during which students shared their ideas and explored avenues to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. The session encouraged them to think innovatively, assess practical challenges, and understand how the government supports youth-led ventures.
During the field exposure, students visited several important branches, including the Employment Office, SDM Office, and the Commissionerate of Police. At the Employment Office, they learnt about job registration systems, labour documentation, and career facilitation services for citizens. The SDM Office familiarised them with land and revenue records, documentation workflows, and the digital initiatives that are simplifying administrative procedures.

At the Commissionerate of Police, students gained firsthand awareness of modern policing strategies, cyber safety protocols, and technologies used to ensure public security. Officers also sensitised them about responsible digital behaviour and the importance of community partnership in maintaining law and order.
The tour provided a holistic experience that blended academic knowledge with practical governance exposure, enabling students to observe real-time administrative functions beyond textbooks. Overall, the visit proved to be a valuable field-learning experience that strengthened students’ understanding of governance while inspiring them to engage meaningfully with civic processes.
