At Apeejay School, Kharghar, academic excellence is not just a goal but a way of life. This year, three exceptional students from Class 10 have proven that hard work, determination, and the right mindset can lead to remarkable achievements. In a candid conversation, Taneshtha Pati, Aajinkya Bajpai, and Tanish Mane shared their preparation strategies, career goals, and valuable tips for fellow students. Their impressive results speak volumes: Tanishtha scored 98.5%, Tanish secured 97.8%, and Ajinkaya achieved 95.76% in their best of five subjects.
Focused and Fearless: Taneshtha Pati
Taneshtha Pati, a bright student who performed well in her class in Grade 9, believes in self-discipline over social media detox. “I’m not on Instagram or any such platform, so it’s easy to stay away,” she shared. During exams, she prioritises rest and structured revision. “I always take a short nap after school, then divide my topics so I can revise them at least twice or thrice.”
Taneshtha’s career aspirations lie in the sciences. Planning to pursue PCB, she aims to study in Bangalore or Mumbai before preparing for NEET. What changed her fear of maths? “The shift from ICSE to CBSE in Class 7 was tough, but once I understood the system and started using reference books, my confidence grew,” she explained. A multi-talented student, she’s a black belt in Karate, an Odissi dancer, and loves painting. Her top advice to peers? “Figure out how you learn best. Once you crack your learning pattern, studying becomes easier.”
Strategic and Scientific: Aajinkya Bajpai
Aajinkya Bajpai’s preparation began three months before his exams, giving him an edge. “It gave me time to clear doubts and revise properly,” he said. For him, different subjects demand unique strategies: daily problem-solving for maths, reading novels for better English writing, and understanding grammar for Hindi. “In SST, you have to memorise events and years, so starting early is key,” he added.
Aajinkya maintains a balanced lifestyle during exams, waking early for cycling, helping with chores, studying in blocks, and unwinding with friends. Aspiring to be a scientist, he enjoys discovering new ideas and spends his free time doing animation and software development. His mantra? “Board exams are like any other test. If you revise every day, you won’t need to panic later.”
Balanced and Consistent: Tanish Mane
For Tanish Mane, preparation for Class 10 began with guidance from his elder sister. Armed with previous year papers and additional books, he believes in steady effort and consistency. “I plan my day each morning and stick to a schedule. My father helps me manage time between tuition and projects,” he shared.
Tanish is passionate about mathematics and envisions a future in engineering or entrepreneurship. He believes practice is key to mastering tough topics like algebra. “If you solve 10-20 questions daily, you’ll naturally improve,” he said. Meditation, football, and quality study hours are vital parts of his routine. His golden rule? “Be self-disciplined. It’s not about how much you study, but how well you study.”
