The Dalai Lama had once remarked, “The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation.” The same was said by psychologist BF Skinner in his theory of positive reinforcement. Positive behaviour conditioning is most essential in life, especially in the field of education. When the virtues of hard-work, commitment, sacrifice and intelligence are appreciated, they fill the student with greater inspiration to make them into permanent personality attributes.
In line with the above mentioned thought, Apeejay School, Noida recently organised the Annual Appreciation Day for students across classes 1 and 2. The event began with a floral welcome of the Chief Guest, Col. Kaushal Kashyap, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp to invoke the blessings of the Almighty. The Shaurya Chakra Awardee was formally welcomed by Mr A K Sharma, Principal of the school, alongside a thunderous applause by the audience.
The Principal presented a comprehensive report of the achievements of students during the academic session of 2022-23. Primary In-charge, Mrs. Smriti Samuel, apprised the audience about the plethora of activities and endeavours that sculpted the learning journey of the students during the previous term.
In his address to the parents, Col Kaushal Kashyap, touched upon the values of being patient, contended and respectful towards others. He encouraged, “Students you must enjoy the academic lessons, learn as much as possible and be committed to progress.” He wished all students well and hoped they continue on the path of growth.
This was followed by the cultural programme, which began with a melodious invocation song. Soon the prize distribution ceremony commenced wherein the meritorious students across classes I and II were awarded certificates and trophies for their outstanding achievements across diverse fields.
Through their play, ‘The Symphony of Colours’, the students illustriously highlighted the significance of different colours. The students energetically displayed the magical phenomenon of rainbow colours, which change moods, cause excitement and leave a soothing effect on the mind.
The cultural extravaganza was an amalgamation of various performing arts such as aerobics, free style dance and yoga. The students dressed in their colourful costumes performed perfectly with a lot of enthusiasm. The entire show was a roaring success and was appreciated by one and all. The event culminated with the vote of thanks, proposed by class 2 student, Amyra Bassi.
