
Books are mankind’s great gift to all generations. A book introduces a reader to themselves and the world around them in multiple angles. A book is not only a great source of joy and knowledge to man but is also a great tool to build the heart and the mind.
Keeping this in sight, Apeejay School Rama Mandi, Jalandhar celebrated World Book Day with great joy and excitement. The school held a special assembly to mark the occasion as students prepared many thoughtful programs.
The assembly commenced with a thoughtful prayer followed by the thought for the day by class 10 student Christine. An informative talk by Jasnoor Kaur of class 11 informed the audience about World Book Day and its significance in the world. Her talk was accompanied by a superbly befitting video wherein she shared many key facts about the day, such as the day being the birth anniversary of celebrated playwright William Shakespeare and the death anniversary of legendary Spanish poet Miguel Cerventes. Physics teacher, Ms. Ramandeep Kaur also shared a beautiful self-composed poem on the occasion that spread a spirit of love for books and knowledge.
Students participated in a host of different activities to mark the special ocassion. From bookmark making to paper bag making activities to news caricature making competitions, students enjoyed the day and learnt many new skills.
Principal, Mr AK Sharma congratulated all the students and teachers for their efforts and also discussed the importance and value of books in his address. He further explained to students how books are indeed a man’s best friend throughout all ages and how knowledge is a man’s great strength.
The Principal further urged all students to read more books and explore the school library as a resource towards their personality building.
