Students embrace teachings of harmony, service and devotion

Apeejay Svran Global School, Faridabad, Sector 21-D, celebrated Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Utsav with immense devotion, enthusiasm, and reverence, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere for students, teachers, and staff. The celebrations were designed to honour the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, while instilling values of compassion, truthfulness, humility, and selfless service among young learners.

The festivities commenced with a soulful Prabhat Pheri, where students and staff filled the school campus with divine hymns and devotional chants. The melodious recitation of shabads created a serene environment and set the tone for the day’s activities. The hymns not only enriched the spiritual experience but also conveyed the message of peace, love, and harmony, which forms the core of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings.

A special assembly was organised, during which students beautifully shared the principles of Guru Nanak Dev’s life. Through speeches, skits, and presentations, the children highlighted his guiding philosophy of Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, Vand Chhako — meditate on God, work honestly, and share with others. This interactive session helped students understand how these teachings can be applied in their daily lives, promoting moral and ethical values from an early age.

To provide a practical learning experience, students from Classes I to V visited a local Gurdwara as part of the celebration. During the visit, they actively participated in prayers, listened to the teachings of Sikhism, and learnt about the importance of seva (selfless service) and humility. The visit left a profound spiritual impact, encouraging the children to cultivate virtues like kindness, generosity, and empathy. Teachers emphasised the relevance of these values in everyday life, guiding students to follow the path of goodness and harmony.

The celebration concluded with a reflection session, where students shared their experiences and insights gained from the day. The programme successfully blended devotion, learning, and moral education, ensuring that students not only celebrated the festival with joy but also internalised the profound messages of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
