He is flying high on Cloud 9 these days after his invention has won hearts and awards across competitions. Meet Arjit Singh, presently studying in class X at Apeejay School, Kharghar. In a candid interview, he shares his belief that imagination knows no bounds and how.
Tell us about your recent achievements.
I participated in the Anvikshiki Science and Commerce Exhibition recently. Our project, EyeWay, an AI-powered assistive device made to help visually impaired individuals understand their surroundings, was presented during the event. With this innovation, we secured the second prize in Category A: Innovation and Sustainability. Competing against other innovative ideas was an encouraging experience, and this achievement has further motivated me to participate in future competitions.
How did you come up with the idea?
We have always been passionate about creating something to improve the lives of people with impairments. With this thought in mind, we developed EyeWay — a device designed to help visually impaired individuals perceive their surroundings. The project allowed me to apply my coding knowledge to create something impactful, combining my skills with a meaningful cause to make a difference in their lives.

How did Apeejay School support your journey?
Apeejay School, Kharghar, played a significant role in supporting us throughout the competition. The teachers here constantly encouraged us and were always there to guide us whenever we faced challenges. The school provided us with this incredible opportunity to showcase our imagination and innovation, empowering us to create something meaningful that could make a positive impact.
What are your plans?
Our ambition is to enhance EyeWay by improving its accuracy and adding more functionalities to make it even more helpful for visually impaired individuals. We aim to make the device widely accessible, empowering them to lead more independent lives. Personally, my ambition is to pursue a career in Computer Science and develop something that can be widely used by people in their everyday lives, creating a meaningful impact on society.

What are your favourite subjects and why?
My favourite subjects are Mathematics and Computer Science because I have always found them interesting. I enjoy solving math problems as they challenge my thinking and are fun to work on. I have had exposure to computers since an early age, which made me curious to learn more. As I explored programming and technology, I found it interesting.
