In the corridors of Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi, a youngster, Reyansh Mathur of class III-D at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park made his mark with a Silver medal and excellence certificate in the prestigious 43rd India National Abacus Competition. He also brought his academic acumen to the fore by achieving Rank 81 at the National Level in the Unified Cyber Olympiad and was awarded a Gold medal for his ranking within the top 100 students in the country.

“I try to ensure that my brilliance does not remain confined to academics alone; it extends into the realm of sports also. Recently, on May 12, 2024, I proved my mettle by winning two Gold medals in Inline Skating competitions for the Under-9 category. These competitions, organised by Fitos-Next Level Events Roller Games and Sports Society, provided the ideal platform for projecting my skating abilities,” he said.

But who is he apart from all his achievements? He is a multidimensional person with diverse interests, from painting and swimming to even solving a Rubik’s cube — each pursued with the same passion that he gives to his studies and athletic endeavours.
“Abacus was introduced to me by my parents as a fun way of learning Math. For me, every competition is not only an exam for being prepared but also allows me to reach new heights. My interest in the Cyber Olympiad was initially instigated by a natural interest in computers. It was even more enhanced through hands-on, practical learning modules in Computer Science. Skating, on the other hand, entered my life when I was in class I through school activities, and then it was my sports teacher who, seeing an innate talent in me, initiated me into inline skating,” Reyansh shared and added that all his successes are because of his parents and teachers who have guided him through every step.

“My parents provide the strongest support in managing time so that I can get enough time for studies and other hobbies. They also are my backing in any kind of competition, keeping me on my feet and boosting my self-esteem. From here on, I want to learn more skills in Abacus, and skating, and participate in more competitions to excel further. In the process, I hope to make my school, teachers, and parents proud. I also want to show others what hard work, coupled with family and educator support, can result in the success achieved in different fields,” Reyansh stated in conclusion.
