Emotional resilience and physical fitness are a mark of a true sportsman, feels Suryansh Singh who is working to build both through karate. This class XI student at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park shares how his sports teacher has always had his back in a candid interview.
Tell us about your recent achievements in karate.
Recently, I competed in the zonal-level tournaments for judo and kurash, where I proudly secured second place in both events. This accomplishment reflects my dedication and hard work in martial arts. Additionally, I participated at the district level, gaining valuable experience and further improving my skills. These achievements motivate me to aim higher.
How did Apeejay School support your journey?
Apeejay School played a pivotal role in my journey, providing unwavering support and encouragement. Special thanks to my sports teacher, who was instrumental in my success. She dedicated her time and effort by conducting early morning training sessions at 7 am, ensuring I was well-prepared and motivated to excel in my tournaments.
Share your training regime.
My training regime begins with morning sessions that include running to build stamina, warm-up exercises to prepare the body, and focused judo practice to refine my techniques. These routines ensure I stay fit and disciplined and constantly improve my skills.

Would you like to take up karate professionally?
Yes, I aspire to pursue karate professionally and represent my country on prestigious platforms. This sport has taught me discipline, resilience, and focus, and I am determined to further enhance my skills and achieve success at the highest levels.
Any special diet you follow?
I maintain a healthy diet to support my training, focusing on nutritious foods that provide energy and strength. My meals include fresh fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains for overall fitness and performance.

What’s your ambition?
My ambition is to continuously learn, grow, and evolve as an individual while using my skills and experiences to inspire and help others. I aim to make a positive impact on society through dedication, hard work, and compassion.
How has karate changed your life?
Karate has transformed my life by teaching essential skills like self-defence, breathing control, and improved flexibility. It has enhanced my physical fitness, mental focus, and discipline, empowering me with confidence and the ability to face challenges effectively.
