Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar successfully organised a Faculty Development Program (FDP) aimed at strengthening teamwork and enhancing strategic thinking within academic environments. The session was conducted by Dr. Ajwinder Dhillon from the School of Management and brought together faculty members for an engaging and intellectually stimulating learning experience.

The programme commenced with an insightful session on the TOWS Analysis Framework. Dr. Dhillon elaborated on how institutions can translate situational analysis into actionable strategies using the four strategic combinations: SO (Strength–Opportunity), ST (Strength–Threat), WO (Weakness–Opportunity), and WT (Weakness–Threat). She emphasised that while SWOT analysis helps identify internal and external factors, the TOWS framework enables organisations to convert those insights into practical and implementable strategies. The session encouraged participants to critically reflect on their institutional strengths and areas for improvement, aligning them with emerging opportunities and potential challenges in the higher education landscape.

To ensure experiential and participative learning, a dynamic Strategy Auction Activity was conducted. In this innovative exercise, faculty teams “bid” on identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and collaboratively designed institutional strategies based on their selections. The activity generated enthusiasm and healthy competition among participants. More importantly, it fostered critical thinking, teamwork, and innovative problem-solving. Faculty members engaged in constructive discussions, debated strategic priorities, and collectively proposed solutions that could enhance institutional effectiveness.

The FDP was further enriched by the valuable guidance of Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC. In his address, he shared thoughtful insights on modern pedagogy, collaborative practices, and idea generation in academic settings. He highlighted the need for educators to move beyond conventional teaching approaches and embrace interactive, student-centric, and research-driven methodologies. His remarks inspired participants to view strategy not merely as an administrative function but as a continuous and collaborative academic responsibility.
Throughout the programme, emphasis was placed on the importance of alignment between vision, planning, and execution. Faculty members reflected on how structured strategic frameworks, when combined with collective participation and effective communication, can drive institutional growth and excellence. The interactive format of the FDP ensured that participants were active contributors to the dialogue, not passive listeners.

The session concluded with a renewed sense of commitment among faculty members to apply strategic thinking in their respective departments and academic initiatives. The Faculty Development Program served as a meaningful reminder that structured strategy, when complemented by collaborative execution and innovative pedagogy, becomes a powerful catalyst for institutional excellence.
