In the interaction with Kaifi Malik, an alumna of Apeejay School of Management (ASM), Dwarka, she opens up about her campus placement experience and what it took to land her current role at Prognostic Financial Pvt. Ltd. With clarity and candour, she shares advice for aspiring students, names the essential skills for success in finance, and speaks about her love for numbers that led her to pursue a career in wealth management.

Did ASM play an active role in helping you get placed?
Absolutely. Despite a few ups and downs and occasional miscommunication, the placement cell at ASM was incredibly supportive. They provided constant guidance throughout my placement journey—from shortlisting to final interviews. The resume writing sessions, group discussion workshops, and interview prep modules were especially helpful.

What was the placement process like?
The process began with the placement committee sharing job descriptions and application links. Once we submitted our resumes, shortlisted candidates were invited to take an assessment test. After clearing that, we had a virtual HR round, followed by a final face-to-face interview. It was structured and thorough.

What’s one golden tip you’d give to your juniors at ASM?
Keep upskilling! Do as many relevant courses as you can and actively participate in every workshop the college offers. Also, make the most of your internships—they’re your entry ticket into the real world.

Which three skills are crucial in your profession as a Wealth Manager?
First, communication is key—both verbal and written. Second, professionalism in appearance and conduct goes a long way. Third, teamwork and punctuality matter immensely. Honestly, I tell my interns the same, especially those from ASM—being on time is non-negotiable.

What drew you to a career in finance?
I’ve always been inclined towards finance—I love numbers and analysis. Even during my internship, I was working in wealth management. That experience solidified my interest, and I knew this was the path I wanted to take. Becoming a Wealth Manager was always the goal.
