Achieving academic excellence requires dedication, consistency, and the right guidance. Here, three high-performing students share their unique study strategies and the support that fueled their success.

Meet Aryan Jain, Jatin Gupta, and Yoshita Purushottam Nagose of Class IX-E from the academic year 2024-25, who share their success journey.

Aryan, who achieved an impressive 96.2%, attributes his success to consistent effort and meticulous planning. He made it a habit to revise lessons on the same day they were taught and, during exams, followed a detailed study schedule.

“I allocated specific days for each subject and chapter and always kept two to three spare days in case I couldn’t complete something on time,” he explained. While his parents initially helped him draft study plans in Class VI, he gradually learned to manage it independently.

Aryan also emphasised the importance of daily study, which helped reduce exam pressure. “For instance, in the Social Studies exam, limited preparation time didn’t affect me because I had already covered most of the syllabus and only needed to revise,” he shared. He also credits his teachers for their constant support. “Before a Math exam, I had doubts while solving a few questions. I texted my teacher, and she responded with detailed solutions within hours,” he recalled.

Jatin, who scored an impressive 93.2%, followed a focused and balanced study routine. “I believe in quality over quantity. Even if I studied for just 30 minutes, I ensured it was effective,” he said.

Long hours, he felt, could be tiring and reduce concentration, so he kept his study sessions short —usually around three hours — with regular breaks to stay refreshed. Emotional support from friends played a big role in his journey.

“Whenever I felt low, they encouraged me. I helped them academically in return,” he shared. Jatin also adopted smart study techniques like underlining keywords, circling doubts to clarify later, and creating abbreviations for complex information. Social Science posed a particular challenge due to the vast number of dates and names. To simplify it, he created mind maps using shapes and arrows to organise events.

“Instead of rote learning, I explained concepts to myself in simpler words while walking around,” he explained. Jatin credits his teachers for their unwavering support and patience, saying, “I’m forever grateful for their guidance.”

Yoshita, who scored an admirable 93%, felt proud and satisfied when she saw her results. “It reflected the hard work I had put in,” she said. She believes that every student must discover their effective study method, as one size does not fit all. For her, the key was preparing personalised notes, revising regularly, and maintaining consistency.

“Being consistent doesn’t mean studying every single day without breaks. It’s okay to skip a day, but I always made sure to catch up the next,” she explained. Rather than relying on external motivation, she was driven by a personal desire to improve and make herself proud.

Teacher support, she said, was instrumental. “I believe in being a good listener. Even if I didn’t write everything down, I remembered the important things my teachers said.” Joining a new school in Class IX posed challenges, and she had to put in extra effort to stay on track. Math was particularly tough, but regular practice and focus in class helped her overcome the difficulty.
