Recently, Apeejay School, Nerul, celebrated National Sports Day with a day full of energy, laughter, and healthy competition. The event reflected the guiding ideals of Dr Stya Paul, Founder-Chairman, Apeejay Stya and Svran Group, and the continued vision of Mrs Sushma Paul Berlia, Chairman, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University, and Chairman, Apeejay Education. Both have championed holistic education, where sports and academics come together to build character and leadership.
The school campus turned into a lively arena with teachers and students sharing the stage in spirited matches. From badminton and basketball to volleyball and throwball, every game was a reminder of the joy of teamwork and the bonds that sports create.
Principal Mr P Subhash set the tone when he noted that the event underlined the role of sports in everyday life and the mutual respect between educators and students. “The National Sports Day celebration at Apeejay School Nerul is meant to highlight the integral role of sports in our lives. The day further exemplified the strong bonds and mutual respect between educators and students,” he said.
Teachers led by example
In the weeks leading up to the day, staff members joined light-hearted games like obstacle races, musical chairs, and passing the ball. These contests built anticipation and strengthened camaraderie.
On the main day, a spirited badminton match among teachers got the crowd cheering. A special exhibition match featuring the Principal drew wide applause and set an example of leadership through participation.
The highlight came with the much-awaited Teachers vs Students matches. These contests featured throwball, volleyball, and basketball. Each game was charged with energy and respect.
· Lady teachers and Class VIII students kept the crowd hooked with a close basketball match.
· Teachers then claimed victory in a follow-up game, followed by another win in throwball.
· Male teachers faced senior boys in a spirited volleyball match that brought the audience to its feet.
· Another match included a throwball game between teachers and Class IX students
Celebrating achievements
The festivities closed with an awards ceremony that applauded exceptional performances. Ujjain House lifted the overall championship trophy, celebrating their hard work and teamwork. The National Sports Day at Apeejay Nerul was more than a calendar event. It became a reminder of the school’s mission to nurture well-rounded individuals, where joy, competition, and community spirit walk hand in hand.
