‘Snapdragon’: Poem by Syahrina Hanif, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park
Published
3 years agoon

Crimson snapping wires
Connecting a circuit
Of starving snakes
Coiled under cylinders
That buzz to the touch
I analyse your form
Awaiting an answer
To reveal itself, a rescuing spark
Nothing appears
But scratches of chalk and
Chants in a foreign tongue
When will you ever reward me
For my troubles
Haven’t I done enough?
I don’t mind being stung
A million times more
Until I can be worthy
Of seeing your soul
