
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently addressed the 108th Indian Science Congress via video-conferencing. During his speech, PM stated that in the field of science, India has found its place in the top 10 countries of the world. Furthermore, he said that Science should make India “atma nirbhar or self-reliant.”
He also lauded the increasing participation of women in Extramural Research and Development. The PM noted that in the last eight years, the participation of women in Extramural Research and Development has doubled. And, the increasing participation of women is a reflection of the progress of society and science.
According to him, the “efforts of science can turn into significant achievements only when they reach from ‘lab to land”. He also remarked that we need to work on subjects that are important for the entire humanity and the increasing needs of India. “If the scientific community works towards the innovation of energy requirements, it would help the country,” he said.
