Schools fondly remembered Babasaheb on his birth anniversary  

Teachers and students celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti and sought inspiration from his life

It is the sacrifice and contribution of many to shape India into the nation it is today. However, among all those efforts, one effort stands out by its sheer intellectual and social genius, Dr B R Ambedkar’s effort in drafting the Indian Constitution. Affectionately called as ‘Babasaheb’, Dr. B R Ambedkar’s life is an inspiration to all those seeking to bring about a real change in the society, despite the countless challenges obstructing them. 

On his 123rd birth anniversary, Apeejay school students from across Punjab and Delhi-NCR made an effort to learn about the legend , remember his contributions as well as seek inspiration from his fortitude and resilience. 

The students of classes Nursery to 5 of Apeejay School, Noida, observed a special assembly on this occasion. The celebration commenced with an informative talk and a video presentation highlighting the contributions made by the multifaceted persona, who is known as ‘The father and architect of the Indian Constitution’, and a champion social rights activist for the people of India. 

The students paid tribute by presenting a play based on Babasaheb’s teachings of equality, liberty and fraternity. They also pledged to follow these ideals and contribute for the upliftment of the society and the nation.

Primary School Incharge, Mrs. Smriti Samuel, addressed the students and reiterated the importance of observing Ambedkar Jayanti. She mentioned, “It is essential to imbibe the three basic principles of equality, liberty and fraternity spread by Dr. Ambedkar. These will help in the truest sense for the betterment of the society.”

At Apeejay Svran Global School in Faridabad, students too took inspiration from Dr. Ambedkar’s life and learned about the concepts of social justice and equality for all human beings. Students gave a speech about Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s life and enlightened the audience about his exemplary contribution in uplifting the society and securing the ideals of democracy in our nation. 

 Ms. Priti Wason, Principal of the school, spoke about Dr. Ambedkar’s rich contribution to the country. She said, “Let us remember the man who wrote the Constitution of India and I hope each of us strive to emulate his teachings and spread the message of equality and social justice.”

Similarly, students at Apeejay School, Rama Mandi in Jalandhar threw light on the history and importance of Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated annually on April 14. The school apprised the students about Babasaheb’s life journey filled with various episodes of humiliation. The young learners felt inspired after learning how despite the struggle, Babasaheb chiselled himself to become one of the most learned men of Independent India.
