For Puneet Sareen, walking into Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, Jalandhar is not just a visit—it’s a return to roots. The advocate, who practices in Jalandhar and the Punjab & Haryana High Court, fondly remembers his alma mater as the place where discipline met creativity, where teachers nurtured not just knowledge but character. In this conversation, he reflects on school days, inspiring mentors, and the values that remain etched in his life.
How do you remember your school years-quick fire?
My school years were simply wonderful—the culture, the discipline, and the encouragement made it an excellent environment.
And which subjects drew your interest the most?
I particularly liked English and Business Studies. They were subjects that not only interested me but also sharpened my analytical and expressive skills.
You are an advocate today. Did your school years contribute to this choice?
Absolutely. My parents were both advocates, so I was naturally inclined. But Apeejay Mahavir Marg polished me—my communication, confidence, and ability to present myself were honed here.
What activities outside the classroom shaped you?
I took part in school dance competitions and loved cricket, though the school then had more facilities for basketball and volleyball. Those activities gave me balance between academics and personality development.
Any teachers or lessons you still carry with you?
So many. I remember my Economics teacher and Mr. Subbal Singh, who still teaches Geography. Their lessons extended beyond the classroom, instilling values of discipline and humility that continue to guide me.
What advice would you like to give today’s students?
Schools should integrate moral science and civic sense into the curriculum. Beyond academics, students must learn how to interact respectfully, conduct themselves in groups, and even follow basic civic rules like road safety. These values are as important as academics.
