Sam Sand Dunes: Memories for a lifetime

The last few days have been the most lovely and unforgettable moments of our lives. And I’m positive that I can speak for the entire class of AIMC 2022 when I say that. The Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication’s (AIMC) courteous professors organised a trip to Jaisalmer and Longewala, and it was nothing short of a joyful, heartfelt, and educational experience.

The incredibly beautiful border city of Jaisalmer, located right in the heart of the Thar Desert is rightly called the Golden City. This beautiful city has something for everyone when it comes to fun things to do. Out of all the things the wilderness of the Thar Desert has to offer, the Desert Safaris stands as one unique experience you just can’t miss.

The most exciting and fascinating part of our three-day journey to Rajasthan was our visit to the Sam sand dunes of Jaisalmer. It was kind of “a dream come true.” I had long yearned to feel and run my fingers across desert sand. The desert safari was undoubtedly the most wonderful, thrilling, and memorable experience. Initially, it seemed a little scary but soon we realised, without this bumpy jeep ride in the sand dune, the fun would have been incomplete.

The sunset at the desert 
The desert sunset is one of the most breathtaking things to see, and as the jeep rushes up and down the dunes, your pulse begins to pound. Sands change colour as the sun sets, forming a connection with the orange sky. 

After spending the evening in the desert while watching the sunset over the horizon we traveled back to our campsites where we enjoyed the windy nights under the star-studded sky with the flames of a bonfire and the sweet melody of gracious performance of folk dancers and singers.  At the end of their performance, they played filmy songs and cultural night shifted to DJ night, everyone jumped in the middle and danced with performers while bidding a heartfelt goodbye to day 1 of our trip.

All in all, I can say that the Sam Sand Dunes bring back lots of memories. Jaisalmer is indeed a beautiful city with a history that is enchanting. If you are with the right people, it will give you memories for a lifetime. The best part of the experiences like these is that they fill your heart with gratitude and love.
