‘RRR’ creates history by winning Oscars

The Indian film industry has always been renowned for its music, dance and drama. One such film that has recently captured the attention of the audience across the world is “RRR. The movie has been directed by the acclaimed filmmaker SS Rajamouli and features actors like Ram Charan, Junior NTR, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Alia Bhatt. The film’s soundtrack Naatu Naatu has also been awarded in the Best Original Song Category at the Oscars for its unique and soulful composition.

March 12, 2023 was a historic day for every Indian and especially cinema lovers. Naatu Naatu beat internationally recognised songs of artists like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Sofia Carson and many more in the 95th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, United States. Naatu Naatus lyricist Chandrabose along with composer M. M. Keerravi received the trophy and made India proud.

While addressing the crowd, the composer M. M Keeravani said, “I grew up listening to The Carpenters and now here I am with the Oscars. There was only one wish on my mind, and so were Rajamouli’s and our families. RRR has to win and be the pride of every Indian.”

The song’s vocals have been provided by the renowned Indian playback singer Rahul Siplingunj and Kaaka Bairava.

The song’s music video features several stunning hook steps that got instantly popular all over the world, and are considered one of the best songs ever made in the history of Indian cinema. Ram Charan in an interview stated, “Naatu Naatu was not our song, it was the song of the people of India. It gave us an avenue for the Oscars.”

The song was live performed on the stage of 95th Academy Awards by Ravi Sipligunj and Kaaka Bairava, who also got a standing ovation from the crowd at the Oscars.

Another historic moment of the 95th Academy Award was that Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone became the First Indian Presenter and Performer at the Oscars 2023. Guneet Monga’s The Elephant Whisperers also won the Oscars for Best Documentary Short Film, becoming the first Indian film to win the Academy Award.

Earlier this year, RRR bagged various awards like ‘Golden Globe Awards’, ‘Hollywood Critics Association Award’ for Best Action Film, Best International Film, Best Stunts, ‘Critics Movie Awards’ for Best Song, Best Foreign Language Film and many more.

Naatu Naatu’s triumph at the Oscars is a moment of pride and celebration for Indian cinema and its fans around the world.
