‘Rhyme adds the poem to the reader’s memory’

Does poetry lead to depth or does depth produce poetry? It can be a good discussion topic! But one thing is for sure, Yatharth Virmani from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park is a poet with depth.

This Apeejay student has penned a lovely rhyme on the serious scary and difficult topic of death. And in a few lines with beautiful rhymes, has explained so easily this simple eternal truth of mortality.

Hence, deservedly selected once again as the Apeejay Promising Poet, Yatharth shares his recent poetic ideas and how William Wordsworth continues to be an inspiration to him. Read edited excerpt:

Death: A Hatred Truth explores the complex emotions surrounding mortality. It portrays death as both feared and revealing, acknowledging its role in bringing peace while also recognising the bitterness and grief it leaves behind. Ultimately, the poem invites reflection on the inevitability of death and the truths it unveils about life.

Undoubtedly. He is unconquered yet in my heart. I love William Wordsworth and his sensitive soft imaginations and my favourite poem is unchanged as well. Whenever I read his famous work: ‘I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud’ I wonder how he managed to convey his emotions so lucidly.

Death: A Hatred Truth follows a rhyme scheme, with a structured pattern of AABBCC rhyme in each stanza. This choice of rhyme scheme adds a sense of musicality and rhythm to the poem, enhancing its poetic flow and making it more memorable for the reader. This way the poem stays longer with the reader.

Indeed! Nothing can match the quiet of the night. The world is different at night, it is more peaceful, more calm. The night often offers a sense of solitude which I love in the Wordsworthian way.

My English teacher Mrs.Moumita Malik Sen has always guided me whenever I could not pen down my expressions and thoughts in the correct way. All the school teachers are so encouraging.

Whenever I am free from my academics and have different thoughts, ideas and views in my mind I write them down and later collect all these notes and scribbles and try to form poetry out of it.

The best thing about writing poetry is the ability to express emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a unique and creative way, forging a deep connection between the audience and the artist. This connection, this bond is so special.
