Reflecting on the lessons learned from the lockdown

I would like to express my gratitude to all the essential service providers, frontline health workers, scientists who developed vaccines, the police force, and our teachers. Each of them contributed selflessly during those challenging times. That period taught us that we were not independent individuals in society; rather, we were reliant on the services provided by hundreds of people. It was crucial to have solidarity and empathy towards these individuals who worked tirelessly for the betterment of our communities.

We also acknowledged the tremendous efforts of our teachers at that time. They spared no effort to ensure that we did not waste our precious time during the lockdown. Their commitment to our education was truly commendable.

Furthermore, the COVID-19 lockdown helped us recognise the invaluable roles our parents played in our lives. They worked tirelessly day and night to fulfill our needs, and they did so without complaints. Spending more time with them provided us with an opportunity to understand them better, learn about their childhood experiences, and discover the true meaning of quality time spent together.

During those times, we realised that life was not solely about academics, television, or games. It was also about sharing moments and standing by each other during every phase of life. The total lockdown period allowed us to witness nature’s healing process. Pollution levels decreased, rivers cleared up, birds filled the air with their songs, and flowers blossomed. This led me to reflect on whether we, as human beings, were the true harm to this beautiful Earth we had been gifted.

The lockdown had imparted many life lessons. We have learned to face challenges with a positive mindset, and I hope those lessons stay with us throughout our lives. Every nightmare had an end, and that phase, too, had passed.
