In today’s day and time, sustainability is not just about protecting the environment, but also about adopting smarter, more efficient ways of living and working. By aligning daily habits with sustainable practices, people can achieve more with less effort, proving that this skill is not only ethical but also a powerful productivity tool. Taking this trend ahead during a Packaging Event at Comeco Fiesta 2025, Sanvi Narula and Fiza Masoun from Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, bought accolades as they bagged the first position.
“At the event we were supposed to repackage and redesign a product on the spot in a sustainable and eco-friendly way. We were given an item on the spot and were asked to package it from a business point of view keeping in mind the factors of sustainability,” shared the Class XII girls.
The innovative idea came out as a result of mental deliberations. “We researched various materials that can be used for packaging, we deeply researched on the impact of materials on the environment. Finally we selected cellulose bags and sugar cane boxes to package the snack item,” explained Fiza.
Though the prize was no mean feat and both tackled a few challenges during the competition. “The biggest challenge for us was that we weren’t informed prior to what exact item we would get to repackage – solid or liquid. So we took a wide range of packaging items considering anything could be given to repackage. We had stuff to repackage oil, chips, cookies, toothpaste and much more. In my opinion it was good to do research prior to the event that helped us in overcoming last minute struggles,” shared Sanvi.

The school also lent an unswerving support that pushed both to continue relentlessly.
“The Commerce department teachers were highly supportive in motivating and even providing us with innovative ideas for the competition. We are grateful for this opportunity given by our school. The guidance of teachers, availability of resources, and constant motivation helped us to win this competition,” both of them expressed.
On a parting note, the craft artist duo also pinned down a few interesting packaging hacks that did the last minute trick. “There are many ideas which can make your packaging more appealing to consumers. We included a QR Code scanner on our packaging which created awareness regarding the need of environment friendly usage. What helped us in winning was that we imagined ourselves as real producers as to what all challenges we could face? Threat from pests and products getting spoilt during rains. This helped us find the perfect material and win the competition,” Sanvi and Fiza concluded.
