Ramakrishna Mission’s Awakened Citizen Program equips teachers to foster ethical decision-making in students

In an ever-evolving world, fostering value-based education is essential to shaping responsible and empowered citizens. Programmes like The Awakened Citizen Program (ACP) equip educators with the necessary tools to instill values, ethical decision-making, and self-awareness in students. Such initiatives are crucial in developing a generation that is not only academically sound but also morally responsible. Through these workshops, teachers are better prepared to guide students in discovering their inner potential and understanding the importance of values in their daily lives.

For the same, ACP year-2 Teachers’ Training was conducted by Ramakrishna Mission, Gurugram. This informative and thought-provoking workshop was held online over two days and aimed at empowering teachers to deliver ACP sessions effectively. Five dedicated teachers from Apeejay School, Noida — Ms Usha Sachdeva, Ms Vasundhara, Ms Nikita Gupta, Ms Sana, and Ms Jyoti Kumari — participated in the training.

The ACP is a three-year program designed to instill moral and ethical values in students. Since 2018, Apeejay School, Noida, has been actively conducting these sessions. The programme consists of 16 modules per year, with a total of 32 classes annually. Each class is conducted once a week for one hour in the AV room, utilising computer-based learning methods to engage students effectively.

During the workshop, the participating teachers were guided through the Year-2 curriculum, which focuses on advanced value-based learning and self-empowerment. The training emphasised the importance of helping students realise their potential and make informed decisions aligned with their values. Through interactive sessions and practical demonstrations, teachers were equipped with strategies to facilitate engaging and meaningful ACP classes.

The workshop also highlighted the urgent need to conserve and promote human values in the modern world. Teachers were encouraged to inspire students to reflect on their actions and understand the broader impact of their choices. This value-based education program not only enriches students’ moral development but also fosters a sense of responsibility, empathy, and self-confidence.

“The ACP programme’s two-year training empowers teachers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to inspire, innovate, and shape the future of value education, fostering growth in both educators and students,” Dr Shahana Parveen, TGT Hindi, Apeejay School, Noida, shared.

Overall, the ACP Year-2 training proved to be an enriching experience for the participating teachers, reinforcing their ability to deliver impactful lessons and nurture value-driven future citizens. The school remains committed to continuing this meaningful initiative and fostering a learning environment rooted in ethical and moral principles.
