PYPTrailblazers: ‘My journey has given me a strong foundation’

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is all about curiosity, discovery, and becoming lifelong learners and researchers! Meet Suhina Khetterpal, an exceptional student from Apeejay’s IB School, Apeejay School International, Panchsheel Park. Having just graduated from the PYP-5 batch, Suhina is now ready to embark on the exciting new adventures of MYP. In a candid interview, she shares inspiring insights into her passions and remarkable journey so far.

How do you feel now that you have graduated and now entering MYP?

I feel incredibly happy, proud, and excited as I graduate from PYP-5 and step into MYP. This is a significant milestone, and I’m eager to embrace the new challenges, learning opportunities, and adventures that await me. My journey in PYP has given me a strong and meaningful foundation, and now I feel confident and ready to take on greater responsibilities, form new friendships, and dive deeper into my subjects. I’m truly looking forward to everything MYP has in store for me!

What ATL (Approaches to Learning) skill do you feel most confident in now?

I feel most confident in my self-management, communication, and research skills. These Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills have helped me stay organised, express my ideas clearly, and explore new topics in depth. I’ve learnt how to manage my time effectively, collaborate with others, and find trustworthy information to support my learning. These skills have become an essential part of how I approach challenges and solve problems, and I’m confident they will continue to support my growth in MYP and beyond.

What topic did you choose for your exhibition and why?

For my exhibition, I chose the topic of smart and futuristic cities. I was inspired to explore how technology can reduce pollution and support sustainable living. This topic interested me because it connects innovation with helping the planet, and it made me realise the importance of creating cleaner, greener environments for our future.

How did your exhibition project help you learn about yourself?

My exhibition project taught me that I can be patient, focused, and dedicated when working toward a goal. I discovered my self-confidence and love for researching and learning new things. It also showed how much I care about global issues and how determined I am to find solutions. Overall, it helped me grow as a learner and deepen my understanding of the topic.

What extracurriculars did you enjoy the most?

I enjoyed vocals and robotics the most during my time in PYP. Singing helped me express myself and boosted my confidence, while robotics sparked my interest in programming and technology. Both activities made learning fun and meaningful, and they played a big role in making my PYP journey enjoyable and memorable.

What advice would you give to a future PYP-5 student?

My advice to future PYP 5 students is to stay consistent, confident, and focused on your goals. Believe in yourself, don’t hesitate to ask questions, and embrace challenges. Maintain a positive attitude, work hard, and enjoy every step of your learning journey. PYP is full of fun, discovery, and growth — make the most of it and always give your best!
