In recent years, yoga has gained popularity not only as a form of physical exercise but also as a practice that promotes mental and emotional well-being. Schools around the world are increasingly recognising the benefits of incorporating yoga into their curriculum and extracurricular activities. 

Celebrating yoga in schools can have profound impacts on students’ overall development which is why Apeejay School, Rama Mandi left no stone unturned to celebrate International Yoga Day with utmost zeal. 

The entire yoga event was led by Ms Ruchika, a devoted yoga instructor at the school. The yoga session included engaging demonstrations of various yoga asanas, along with explanations of their benefits for physical fitness and mental clarity.

Ms Ruchika shared her extensive knowledge of the therapeutic benefits of yoga, highlighting its effectiveness in alleviating stress and enhancing mental resilience and emotional balance. She emphasised that yoga is not just a physical practice, but a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement.  

During the session, the instructor guided participants on the importance of maintaining correct posture and employing mindful breathing techniques. She explained how these elements are crucial for maximizing the benefits of yoga, fostering a deeper connection between mind and body, and promoting overall well-being. 

Mr AK Sharma, the Principal of the school delivered an inspiring address, underscoring the profound impact of yoga that extends far beyond mere physical exercise. He highlighted its essential role in cultivating inner peace and fostering a deeper connection with oneself. Post this, Ms Aarti Shorey Bhat, the Vice-principal of the school expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the yoga teacher for creating a tranquil atmosphere during the session. She commended the instructor for introducing practical yoga asanas that staff members can easily incorporate into their daily routines, even while working at the institution. Ms Bhat acknowledged the importance of these accessible exercises in promoting physical and mental well-being amidst the demands of their professional environment.
