In anticipation of the upcoming unveiling of the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ vision document at the end of January, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to kick off an outreach campaign. The campaign aims to gather the perspectives of students, incorporating their ideas into the action plan for transforming India into a developed nation over the next 25 years.

During a video conferencing session today, Modi will launch the ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’ link on the MyGov portal to solicit input from students. Additionally, he will address vice-chancellors of universities, heads of institutes, and faculty members in workshops held at Raj Bhawans across the country, marking the initiation of the initiative, according to Niti Aayog CEO, BVR Subrahmanyam.

As part of the campaign, vice-chancellors and heads of institutes will encourage students to participate by submitting their ideas through the MyGov portal. The best ideas will be rewarded.

Students are invited to provide suggestions on three key questions: “How should a Viksit Bharat look like in 2047 in different aspects? What do we need to do to reach this goal? What can you do to make Viksit Bharat@2047 possible?”

The vision encompasses various facets of development, including economic growth, social progress, environmental sustainability, and good governance. With India at present, being the fifth-largest economy and poised to surpass Japan and Germany to become the third-largest economy by 2027, the country aims for a $30 trillion economy by 2047, striving to achieve developed nation status in its 100th year of independence.

The ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ document is nearing completion, with 10 sectoral groups of secretaries finalising sectoral visions. Niti Aayog will consolidate these visions into a comprehensive document by December this year after consultation with sectoral groups and thought leaders, including industry leaders.
