Pharma students visit renowned pharmaceutical companies in Gujarat 

In a quest to bridge the gap between academia and industry, the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (SPS) of Apeejay Stya University (ASU), Gurugram recently organised a path-breaking two-day industrial tour to Ahmedabad, Gujrat.

Driven by the visionary guidance of Dr. Anupama Diwan, the Dean of SPS, the tour immersed second, third and fourth year B.Pharma students into the heart of Ahmedabad, a pharmaceutical hub pulsating with innovation and expertise.

A glimpse into the journey!

The pharmaceutical expedition unfolded with a visit to Amneal Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd, a stalwart in the realm of pharmaceutical manufacturing. Guided by Dr. Nitin Goyal, the Head of Injectables, students traversed the journey from warehouse inventory to manufacturing, quality control, packing, dispatching, and logistics for ophthalmic products and injectables. The aseptic area revealed its intricacies, providing students with invaluable exposure to real-world working conditions.

Post-plant exploration, a questionnaire session conducted by Dr. Nitin Goyal gauged students’ understanding. Mr. Parmeshwar Hans, HR, and Admin bolstered Industry-Academia relationships, offering insights into internships, placements, and the hiring process.

Nutraceutical marvels at Walpar Healthcare

 Walpar Healthcare, a contract research and manufacturing organisation, became the next stop, unraveling the mysteries behind high-quality Nutraceuticals, Herbal, and Ayurvedic formulations. Mr. Tanmay Shah, Head Plant, Dr. Jignesh Modi, Head of R & D, and Ms. Neeta, Head QC, orchestrated an immersive visit into the formulation of solid and liquid dosage forms. 

From the dispensing of raw materials to packaging, students delved into the manufacturing processes of tablets, capsules, and syrups. Heartfelt gratitude was extended to Mr. Kalpesh, MD, for his unwavering support.

A journey into science and beyond

 Beyond the pharmaceutical realm, the tour extended to the renowned Science City in Gujarat, a beacon of scientific knowledge and discovery. Students were treated to an array of scientific disciplines, ranging from human anatomy to the marvels of artificial intelligence and renewable energy solutions. 

The visit was not just educational but an enlightening and captivating experience, imprinting memories that would endure.

Culmination and reflection

The industrial voyage transcended its objectives, proving to be a resounding success in knowledge acquisition and networking. The immersive exposure to pharmaceutical giants and the vibrant canvas of scientific exploration at Science City left an indelible mark on the minds of the students. ASU’s School of Pharmaceutical Sciences had not just orchestrated a tour; it had embarked on a transformative journey, nurturing minds and shaping futures.

All in all, Apeejay Stya University’s students did not merely witness industry practices—they became integral parts of the dynamic tapestry, setting the stage for future collaborations and innovations in the ever-evolving landscape of pharmaceutical sciences.
