In today’s age of on-demand content and binge-worthy streaming, where stories are consumed with a swipe and attention spans are shorter than ever, the subtle art of creative writing seems to be losing its rightful pedestal. While social media thrives on reels and reactions, the craft of penning thoughts into impactful prose or poetry is often dismissed as ‘old school.’ Yet, amid this digital noise, writing remains that one timeless skill—one that refines thought, deepens empathy, and sets a person apart in every field, from academia to entrepreneurship.
Recognising this need to reignite a passion for writing, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, in collaboration with Times NIE, hosted a powerful and insightful creative writing workshop to mark the occasion of World Book Day. The workshop was specially curated for students of Classes 6 to 8, blending literary awareness with hands-on learning.
The school welcomed Dr. Avinasha Sharma, renowned author of “Learn How to Write in 90 Days: Mastering Creative Writing,” as the guest speaker and workshop facilitator. Known for her engaging style and practical approach, Dr. Sharma brought an infectious energy into the room. Her session kicked off by establishing a simple but profound truth—writing is more than just words on paper; it is power, personality, and potential.

She guided the students through the essentials of the writing process—from brainstorming ideas and structuring paragraphs to drafting, revising, and even envisioning publication. Instead of relying on theory alone, Dr. Sharma packed the workshop with interactive activities, encouraging students to create original sentences, explore real-life scenarios as writing prompts, and identify the core elements of different genres—from mystery and memoir to fantasy and realism.
The session transformed into a buzzing hub of creativity, where students were not just listeners but active participants. They asked questions, shared ideas, and even read aloud snippets of their spontaneous writing. Dr. Sharma, in turn, applauded their efforts and offered constructive feedback, empowering them with confidence and clarity.
Towards the end of the workshop, the acclaimed author encouraged every budding writer in the room to nurture a daily writing habit, however small, and to trust the process of improvement over perfection.

As the session concluded, what lingered in the minds of the young learners was a renewed respect for writing—not as an academic obligation, but as a tool for transformation, an outlet for imagination, and above all, a lifelong companion.
The school’s initiative, especially in collaboration with a respected platform like Times NIE, was not just timely—it was necessary. In a world bursting with visual content, Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park, reminded its students that while videos may go viral, words leave a legacy.
