Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication (AIMC) marked the 77th Republic Day of India with a solemn yet spirited flag unfurling ceremony at its campus, reflecting deep respect for the nation’s constitutional values and democratic ethos. The observance brought together faculty members, staff, and students in a shared expression of patriotism, unity, and national pride.
The ceremony began with the unfurling of the national flag in the campus premises, symbolising India’s sovereignty, resilience, and collective aspirations. As the tricolour was hoisted, the gathering stood in reverence and joined in the singing of the national anthem. The moment created an atmosphere charged with pride and reflection, reminding everyone present of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the responsibilities entrusted to citizens under the Constitution of India.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Sajal Mukherjee, Director, Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, highlighted the historical and contemporary significance of Republic Day. In his address, he emphasised that January 26 is not merely a ceremonial occasion but a reminder of the ideals enshrined in the Constitution—democracy, equality, justice, and liberty. He encouraged students, especially those aspiring to build careers in media and communication, to uphold integrity, ethical conduct, and social responsibility in both their personal and professional lives.

Prof. Mukherjee underscored the role of media professionals in strengthening democratic institutions and shaping informed public discourse. He urged students to remain conscious of their responsibilities as future communicators, stressing that their work should be guided by truth, accountability, and a commitment to the public good. His address resonated strongly with the audience, reinforcing the relevance of constitutional values in an era of rapidly evolving media landscapes.
The observance also served as a platform to foster a sense of togetherness within the AIMC community. Faculty members and staff actively participated in the ceremony, lending their presence and support to make the event meaningful and inclusive. Students, too, expressed enthusiasm and respect throughout the programme, reflecting the institute’s emphasis on value-based education alongside professional training.
Following the formal proceedings, the ceremony concluded with the distribution of refreshments. This informal interaction allowed students and faculty members to engage in conversations in a warm and cordial setting, further strengthening bonds within the academic community. The relaxed atmosphere complemented the solemnity of the earlier proceedings, making the observance both reflective and engaging.

The Republic Day celebration at AIMC reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to nurturing socially aware, ethically grounded, and responsible citizens. By commemorating the occasion in a dignified manner, the institute highlighted the importance of aligning professional aspirations with national values. The observance stood as a reminder that education, particularly in the field of mass communication, plays a vital role in sustaining democratic ideals and fostering a strong sense of national consciousness among future generations.
