The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on February 20, 2023, (Monday) conducted the class XII Hindi paper from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. The exam was held across India and 26 countries abroad.

The class XII Board exam is an important exam for students since it starts a student’s academic as well as professional journey. This exam conducted by the CBSE plays an important role in a student’s life. This is because Hindi is one of the core subjects in the CBSE class XII curriculum.

According to Sumit Kaur Goomer, Hindi (HoD) at Apeejay School, Panchsheel Park the question paper didn’t throw any curve ball. “I spoke to the students who took Hindi in our school and they told me that they had done the paper well. They were specific to their marks as well and said that they were confident that they could score good marks,” Goomer said.

Analysis of the paper

  1. Overall, the questions paper was good. There were no surprises this time.
  2. The questions that were asked were simple and the students who would have studied the chapters properly will be able to score over 90 per cent.
  3. The writing skills were easy to understand and therefore students should manage to get full marks in this section.
  4. There is no reason why the students should be able to score full marks in MCQs.
  5. The only problem and areas where students may lose marks in the 4-mark questions. Here the students are required to write elaborate answers.  This is the section where spelling mistakes are made. Sadly, even if the entire answer is correct but the student has made a spelling mistake the examiner will cut marks.
“It has been seen, in previous year question papers, that in a 2-mark answer, if all the points are mentioned, the examiner will give full marks. As compared to last year’s question paper – it was for 40 marks and held in an online mode – this year’s question paper was on similar lines,” Goomer said.
  6. The paper was as per the approved CBSE pattern and it was from the syllabus. Students were happy that it was a high-scoring paper.
  7. The paper catered to all kinds of students with very few complex questions.
  8. Students who had practiced sample papers and the previous year’s question papers managed to complete their papers on time.

The class XII Board exam results are expected in June 2023.
