Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the digital landscape, with platforms like LinkedIn embracing AI to enhance user experience. According to an analysis by AI detection firm Originality AI, over 54% of longer English-language posts on LinkedIn are likely AI-generated.
Originality AI reviewed 8,795 public LinkedIn posts exceeding 100 words, published between January 2018 and October 2024. The study revealed a sharp rise in AI-generated content starting in 2023, coinciding with the release of ChatGPT. The 189% surge in posts likely generated by AI, a trend that has since stabilised. Initially used sparingly, AI tools have now become prevalent on the platform, particularly after LinkedIn introduced in-house AI writing tools for premium users.
These tools allow subscribers to refine posts, profiles, and direct messages, making LinkedIn a hub for AI-assisted communication. AI tools have proven especially beneficial for non-native English speakers and busy professionals. However, the rise of AI writing has sparked debates. Critics argue that AI devalues human creativity, while others appreciate its ability to enhance clarity and accessibility.
As AI continues to influence LinkedIn, the balance between efficiency and originality remains a central concern.
