Oxford University Press India (OUP) recently conducted a workshop in Delhi, focusing on the effective implementation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 for mathematics at foundational and preparatory stages. The event featured the introduction of the new and revised edition of OUP’s flagship mathematics series, ‘New Enjoying Mathematics,’ presented by the distinguished author, Aashalata Badami.

The mathematics course aligned with the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and NCF 2023 adopts an activity-oriented approach. The goal is to alleviate Math phobia and promote cognitive, creative, and physical development in students. Badami, speaking at the workshop, noted the revision’s focus on the present trends in mathematics education. The updated approach takes into account the immediate context of a child’s world and integrates 21st-century skills, including communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration.

News sources also highlighted OUP’s collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in developing the research-based Think-Share-Learn-Practice (TSLP) programme. Through this programme, teachers acquire skills in curriculum design and teaching practices grounded in experiential learning and rooted in the Indian ethos.
