The Orientation Programme at Apeejay Stya University(ASU) in Gurugram is going on in full swing. The third day  was marked by insightful lectures, interactive sessions, and team-building activities that left a lasting impression on the new students. The day’s events began with an enlightening lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Anurag Deep, a distinguished Professor of Law at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. Prof. Deep delivered an in-depth session on three newly introduced criminal laws: Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (BNS), Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 (BNSS), and Bhartiya Sakshay Adhiniyam 2023 (BSA), which have replaced the Indian Penal Code 1860, the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, and the Indian Evidence Act 1872.

The session provided students and faculty with valuable insights into the significant changes brought about by these new laws. Prof. (Dr.) Chetan Choudhary, Registrar of Apeejay Stya University, felicitated Prof. Deep for his esteemed presence and notable contributions to the field of law. Following the lecture, an interactive question-and-answer session was held, during which students and faculty members engaged actively with Prof. Deep, posing questions that demonstrated their keen interest in understanding the complexities of the new legal frameworks.

The morning session was further enriched by a compelling address from Dr. Renu Batra, Advisor for Higher Education at Apeejay Education and Former Additional Secretary at the University Grants Commission (UGC). Dr. Batra’s address was both inspiring and informative, as she shared valuable insights into the current higher education landscape, emphasizing the importance of quality assurance and maintaining high academic standards.

After a brief lunch break, the orientation programme resumed with a session led by Prof. (Dr.) Sudhakar Ranjan from the School of Engineering and Technology. Prof. Ranjan conducted a comprehensive workshop on Moodle and Online Course Registration, equipping students with the essential skills needed to navigate the university’s digital learning environment efficiently. This session was particularly beneficial for new students as it provided them with practical knowledge on how to manage their courses and access online resources.

The day’s activities culminated in a series of team-building exercises organized by Dr. Nidhi Purohit, Assistant Professor at the School of Behavioral Sciences, and Ms. Prachi Singhal, a second-year M.Sc. student in Applied Psychology. These activities were designed to foster camaraderie and collaboration among the new students. The participants enthusiastically engaged in the exercises, which not only provided a fun and interactive end to the day but also helped in building connections and a sense of community among the students.

Overall, the third day of the orientation programme at Apeejay Stya University was a resounding success, characterized by informative sessions, active participation, and team-building activities that set a positive tone for the students’ journey ahead.
