OpenAI has introduced Frontier, a new enterprise platform designed to help organisations build, deploy, and manage AI agents capable of performing real business tasks, marking a significant step in the evolution of workplace automation.
As artificial intelligence becomes increasingly integrated into daily operations, companies are witnessing measurable productivity gains. According to recent insights, nearly 75% of enterprise workers say AI has enabled them to accomplish tasks that were previously difficult or impossible. This transformation is not limited to technical teams—departments across sales, operations, and strategy are experiencing the impact.
OpenAI reports that more than one million businesses have already benefited from AI-driven workflows. In one example, a major manufacturer reduced production optimisation time from six weeks to just one day using AI agents. A global investment firm streamlined its sales process end-to-end, freeing up over 90% more time for sales teams to focus on client relationships. Meanwhile, a large energy producer increased output by up to 5%, resulting in more than a billion dollars in additional revenue.
Despite rapid advancements in AI models, many enterprises struggle with implementation rather than capability. Frontier aims to bridge this gap by providing agents with essential workplace competencies such as shared context, onboarding, feedback-based learning, and clearly defined permissions and controls. This structured approach enables organisations to move beyond isolated experiments and adopt AI solutions that function as collaborative digital coworkers across departments.
Several major companies, including HP, Intuit, Oracle, State Farm, Thermo Fisher, and Uber, are among the first to adopt Frontier. Existing customers such as BBVA, Cisco, and T-Mobile have already piloted the platform to power complex, high-value operations.
With Frontier, OpenAI seeks to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and redefine how work gets done in the modern business landscape.
