Subject enrichment activities are crucial in a child’s early education, fostering cognitive and motor skill development while encouraging creativity and critical thinking. These activities provide young learners with hands-on experiences that enhance their understanding of various concepts, making learning more interactive and enjoyable.
Apeejay School, Tanda Road, Jalandhar, the Pre-Primary Wing recently conducted a series of subject enrichment activities that captivated the students’ interest while promoting essential skills.
In pre-nursery, the Pouring Activity was organised to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. This engaging task also boosted the students’ self-esteem and encouraged them to think critically as they carefully poured water from one container to another. Additionally, the students participated in the Letter F: Cotton Dabbing Activity, where they used cotton to dab paint, enhancing their hand-eye coordination while promoting imagination and creativity. This activity helped them associate the letter F with the familiar water animal, the fish, making learning more relatable and fun.
The nursery class explored the theme of My home and Its Different Rooms. Through this activity, the students identified various rooms in a home, expanding their vocabulary and understanding the purpose of each room. This exploration also encouraged critical thinking as the children discovered and discussed the different rooms in a home environment.
Moreover, the students were also introduced to the concept of Gratitude Towards our Domestic Helpers, recognising the vital role these individuals play in our daily lives. The activity instilled a sense of appreciation in the young learners for the selfless dedication and hard work of domestic helpers.
The UKG students learnt about the Means of Communication by creating toy telephones using paper cups and wool, which enhanced their speaking skills. They also explored Neighborhood Places in School Premises through a tour, where they observed key areas near their classrooms, including the nursery, LKG, the coordinator’s office, pretend and play area, activity room, reception area, administration office, and cafeteria.
These enriching activities not only made learning enjoyable but also fostered a deeper understanding of everyday concepts among young learners.
