For Ayush Goyal, numbers aren’t just digits—they’re a language. As a finance intern at DLF, Ayush is deep-diving into the world of ledgers, balance sheets, and financial statements. What makes his journey stand out is how seamlessly he’s been able to apply classroom learnings to real-world corporate functions. In this conversation, the PGDM student shares his experience working at one of India’s top real estate firms.

Tell us about your role as a finance intern at DLF. What are you working on?

I am currently interning in the Finance and Accounts Department at DLF. I’ve been involved in reviewing financial statements of the parent and subsidiary companies. Since I joined during the financial closing period in April, I’ve had the chance to work on the closing of balance sheets and quarterly statements.

Have you always been interested in finance? What drew you to it?
Yes, numbers have always fascinated me. I enjoy working with them, and finance is a field that is primarily numbers-driven. That’s why I chose to specialise in it.

What classroom concepts from ASM are you using in your internship?
A lot, actually. At ASM, our faculty built a solid foundation. We learned about balance sheets, ledgers, and trial balances in class. So when I encountered these at work, it all felt familiar. I could relate theory to practice quite well.

What career path are you aiming for after this internship?
I’m looking forward to securing a good placement and stepping into a full-time finance role. That’s my focus for now.

What skills should future interns possess if they want to work at DLF?
A strong understanding of income tax and financial basics is crucial. Those two areas really help you stand out.
