Apeejay School, Noida recently hosted a special morning assembly led by the students of Classes 7A and 7B. This event aimed to honour the birth anniversaries of two great leaders, Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. The assembly began with a morning prayer that set a calm and reflective atmosphere for the occasion.
The hosts of the assembly, Avighna Kaushik and Diva Rathi, shared inspiring insights about Gandhi ji and Shastri ji, highlighting their significant contributions to India. They emphasised Gandhi’s powerful quote, “Be the change that you want to see in the world,” encouraging everyone to adopt his teachings in their lives. Ms. Nikita Gupta, the class teacher of 7A, noted, “We celebrated the birthdays of two famous personalities, and the idea behind this celebration was to address how children, especially those of this age, witness bullying around them. We wanted to show them how to handle these situations by connecting the ideas of Gandhi ji and his beliefs to today’s issue of bullying.”

A key highlight of the assembly was the badge ceremony, where Class Representatives, Eco Champions, and Empathy Ambassadors from Classes 6 to 8 were recognised for their leadership and dedication. Vice Principal Ms. Puneeta Bhasin, along with Ms. Ruby and the parents of the recipients, presented the badges, acknowledging the hard work of these young leaders who embody the values of integrity, responsibility, and empathy.
The assembly also featured various cultural performances. Aradhya Mishra delivered a detailed account of Lal Bahadur Shastri’s life, followed by a captivating video on Mahatma Gandhi created by Manan Arora and Pranay Choudary. Students performed a patriotic song that rekindled the spirit of freedom among all present. Additionally, they recited a heartfelt poem on Gandhi Jayanti and showcased a skit illustrating Gandhi’s principles of truth and non-violence, earning applause from the audience. Ms. Jyoti Kumari, the class teacher of 7B, elaborated, “We organised a play to show Gandhi’s vision and how we are applying his thoughts today. Our skit illustrated his principles, which resonated with the audience.”

To express gratitude, the students presented Ms. Ruby Bhatnagar, Head of the Hindi Department, with a heartfelt greeting card, recognising her invaluable contributions to the school community. The assembly concluded with a soulful Sanskrit Shlok and encouraging words from Principal Ms. Ritu Kohli, who inspired students to strive for excellence.
Overall, the assembly was a grand success, filled with inspiration, talent, and meaningful reflections on the lives of Gandhi ji and Shastri ji. Ms. Gupta remarked, “The students took this message to heart, and they thoroughly enjoyed preparing for the assembly, conducting research and exploring how to convey Gandhi ji’s ideas to their peers.”
