New-age students learn about stock market investing and trading strategies

New-age students must learn about the stock market to develop financial literacy early on. It helps them understand investing, manage personal finances better, and build wealth over time. Gaining insights into market trends, risks, and economic impacts fosters critical thinking and smart financial decision-making—essential skills for their future success.

Understanding the importance of the same, the Finance Club at Apeejay Institute of Management & Engineering Technical Campus (AIMETC), Jalandhar, recently organised “Stockathon Olympiad”.

This initiative, under the guidance of Dr. Anu Sahi (Convenor) and Ms. Hardeep Kaur (Coordinator), was designed to provide students with hands-on experience in stock market investing and trading strategies.

Some of the students from various programs, including BCOM (H) BBA and MBA participated in this practical learning opportunity, where they engaged in real-time investment activities. The Stockathon Olympiad enabled students to not only apply theoretical knowledge but also gain invaluable insights into the dynamic world of stock markets.

One of the participants, Umesh Pandey, shared his experience of starting with an initial investment of ₹5,600, making an impressive profit of ₹110 on the first day. “Although market challenges, including a crash, led to a temporary loss of ₹233, the journey offered important lessons in risk management, financial strategy, and market fluctuations,” he mentioned.

Lastly, Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director of AIMETC, congratulated the Finance Club and the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication. He emphasised, “These practical experiences are essential in developing the skills necessary for future leaders in the financial sector. These provide a platform for students to deepen their financial literacy and investment acumen.”
